Trees v Solar

Filed under: sustainable development — Seedster @ 8:24 am

This interesting story demonstrates the difficulties of balancing competing interests working towards sustainable development. What is more sustainable, the growth of Redwood trees; or chopping down those trees to stop overshadowing of solar panels? The Solar Shade Control Act of California was deployed by a homeowner upset that his solar panels were shaded. There have been moves to update the legislation to provides that if trees are there first they have priority but where trees grow to obscure a pre-existing panel, the owner of the panel can request the offending trees be removed.

Hi and a big thank you for visiting. Please do vote for us!

This site is for development of Project Bija (and while we move servers). This is a place where you can express interest in collaborating, suggest ideas, provide feedback - good, bad and plain ugly.

Please visit the forum which is currently being set up and will grow in the lead up to the conference.

Everything is a bit crazy at the moment - spreading the word about the project for the vote.

I’ll provide an update and further background to the project asap. I will also be blogging generally about news relevant to the layers of sustainable development which Bija hopes to map and integrate - please subscribe to the feed.

Thanks again!
